A Path Forward
My name is Asia, and I was honoured to be a recipient of the Debbie Hill-Corrigan scholarship. My journey since my time at Sojourn House has been one of growth, resilience, and purpose. Transitioning into a new chapter of life in Canada came with many challenges, but it also opened doors to opportunities that have shaped who I am today.
Currently, I am pursuing my studies in practical nursing. My goal is to become a compassionate and skilled nurse, someone who not only provides medical care but also emotional support to patients and their families. Alongside my studies, I work as a personal care attendant, supporting elderly individuals with their daily needs. This experience has strengthened my passion for caregiving and reinforced my commitment to the nursing profession.
The Debbie Hill- Corrigan Scholarship through Sojourn House has meant so much to me, both financially and personally. As a student balancing school, work, and life responsibilities, the financial support eased a significant burden and allowed me to focus more on my education. Beyond that, it served as a powerful reminder that someone believed in me and my potential. That encouragement has stayed with me and continues to motivate me to keep pushing forward, even during challenging times.
Looking ahead, I hope to use my education and experiences to make a meaningful impact in healthcare. I am also passionate about giving back to communities in need by supporting access to basic necessities such as clothing and essential care. This is a cause that is very close to my heart.
