Refuge…
As long as there have been humans on this earth, men woman and children from every corner of the globe, persecuted for their colour, their gender, their faith, their sexual orientation, their political beliefs, have left behind everything they know and love – fleeing imprisonment, torture and death. As North Americans, we owe much of our enviable lifestyle to hard working people who fled famine, poverty, and the ravages of two world wars. They built our railways, our cities and towns; and left a legacy of prosperity and hope for a better life in a new world.
Sojourn…
For the past 13 years the compassionate staff at Sojourn House, has provided safe and supportive emergency shelter for over 6,000 refugees from all over the world. We offer counselling, help forge connections to ethno-cultural communities, identify employment and educational opportunities and provide much needed cultural orientation to Canada and Toronto. Through this comprehensive mix of programs and services, Sojourn House helps our members build secure and productive lives.
Community…
The City of Toronto and the Government of Canada recognize the value of Sojourn House to all members of our community. They have committed 3 million dollars for the construction of a new, larger shelter that will include new and much needed units of transitional housing.
You…
are blessed with the power to make the difference between helplessness and hope..to help refugees as they make this arduous journey from fearing for their lives and those of their children to feeling safe and secure in Sojourn House. It is from here, that they begin a healthy and prosperous journey in this land of hope and dreams. Please help make Sojourn House a home.
